The Apopka Youth Council (AYC) is comprised of civic-minded youth that have expressed an interest in local government. 

Members will learn about local government, identify ways to improve Apopka for its youth, recommend and/or create activities that will appeal to Apopka youth, and participate in community events. 

This group is educated on City operations and perform service projects throughout the year.

Applications for the 2021/2022 School Year

The Apopka Youth Council (AYC) is accepting applications for the 2021/2022 school year. The application deadline is September 7, 2021. Resume and recommendation letter are required.

Apopka Youth Council Members will:

  • Learn about local government
  • Identify ways to improve Apopka for its youth
  • Recommend and/or create activities that will appeal to Apopka youth
  • Participate in community events

AYC Member Criteria:

  • Enrolled in 9th through 12th grade at an Apopka area high school or home school
  • Must have a 3.0 GPA
  • Be civic-minded
  • Must commit to attending monthly AYC meetings and participate in community events
  • All applicants will be considered regardless of race, color, gender, national origin, or disability
