Megan’s Law On May 17, 1996, the President signed Megan’s Law into federal law. As a result, local law enforcement agencies i all 50 states are required to notify school’s, day care centers, and parents about the presence of dangerous sexual offenders in their community. In October of 1997, the State of Florida Legislature passed the Public Safety Information Act to meet the requirements of Megan’s Law.
