Garbage, Recycling, Yard Waste and Bulky Solid Waste Pick Up

Trash and Recycling will NOT be picked up on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
City-Issued Trash and Recycling Carts
Single-family residences within the City of Apopka are issued one 95 gallon, black household trash cart and one 64 gallon, gray recycling cart for each garbage/recycling account. Carts are available in two sizes: 95 and 64 gallons. A larger or smaller size cart can be exchanged or added upon request. Additional carts are available for an additional fee, however residences are limited to no more than 2 trash carts and 2 recycling carts per household.
Regulations – Garbage and Recycling:
The new automated trucks can only collect trash in the carts provided by the City of Apopka.
When left at the curb for collection, carts should be placed at least three feet from obstacles such as mailboxes, garages, utility boxes and poles, as well as trees and shrubs.
All household trash should be bagged and placed inside the cart to keep the cart clean and prevent blowing when emptied.
Break down boxes and place them in the cart.
Do not overload the cart or place items on top of the cart.
Place the cart at the curb with the handle and the wheels facing the house.
Carts may be placed curbside between the hours of 5:00 p.m. the night before the scheduled day of collection and 7:00 a.m. on the day of collection.
Carts must be removed from the curb by 7:00 p.m. of the same collection day. Carts left on the curb the morning after the scheduled pickup day may result in a $20.00 roll back fee.
Do not put hazardous waste, such as cleaning materials, oil, paint, pesticides, or medical waste in the cart.
Do not put yard waste in your trash or recycling cart.
