FLORIDA HOSPITAL APOPKA DISTRICT

The Florida Hospital Apopka facility and the expanding medical and professional development are some of Apopka’s leading employers. Continued investment in and expansion of the Florida Hospital Apopka facility has stimulated additional medical service, professional office and retail development in the areas adjacent to the hospital.
Florida Hospital Apopka, a satellite of one of the nation’s largest medical providers - Florida Hospital/Orlando, opened in 1975. It now has 52 beds and an ICU unit. Continually growing to meet the ever-changing needs of the community, Florida Hospital Apopka provides residents and visitors with round-the-clock emergency care, diagnostic imaging and an array of inpatient and outpatient services.
Florida Hospital Apopka has been working on the implementation of their VISION 2020, a plan to grow the current facility into a full service community hospital by the year 2020. The area around the hospital will continue to be significantly influenced by the presence of the growing Florida Hospital Apopka. The City of Apopka seeks continued development of uses that support the presence of the hospital in Apopka, and has identified several parcels, generally located along Park Avenue, Magnolia Street and 1st Street, as potential opportunity sites for uses that would benefit from the close proximity to the Florida Hospital Apopka facility, and would support the needs of people visiting or working at the hospital. Uses such as office, dining, hotels, and retail complement the existing health-sector uses in the area.
Given the location of this District within the City’s Community Redevelopment Area (CRA), expedited permitting and review services, as well as other regulatory and financial incentives may be available for qualified development.
