Disaster Preparedness Plan: Are you ready?
It’s all about preparedness. Whether it is a hurricane, tornado or some other type of disaster threat, you must be ready to protect yourself and your family. The City of Apopka Fire Department would like to remind you of some steps to take.
• Stay informed of the event through media, NOAA weather radio and local government.
• Assemble a disaster needs kit with some of the following items:
Bottled water
Nnon-perishable packaged food
Non-electric can opener
First aid kit
Battery powered radio
Flashlights
Extra batteries
Special items for infants and the elderly
Pet care items
Important documents in a water proof container
Cash
Vehicle fuel tanks filled
Gas for a home generator
Fully charged cell phones with extra batteries
• Know where your local evacuation shelters are located.
