In the late 1980's, the city's growth expanded east to the Seminole County Line. Many commercial buildings including apartment complexes, strip plazas, and large residential neighborhoods sprang up. A new station was needed and land was purchased on Piedmont Wekiva Road next to the Piedmont Lakes subdivision. Fire station 3 was completed in December of 1988 and is the second busiest station in the City.
