Where is the Apopka Police Department located?
The Apopka Police Department is located at 112 E. 6th Street in Apopka Florida. (Two blocks behind City Hall) Our telephone number is (407) 703-1771.

If I have been involved in a police incident and I want a copy of the police report, how do I obtain one?
If you have been involved in a police incident or traffic crash, you may obtain a copy of the report from our Records Section located at the Police Department.  The report will be available three to five days after the date of the incident or traffic crash. Our Records Section hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. through 9:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding weekends and holidays. In accordance with Florida State Statutes, reports are reproduced at a cost of $0.15  for each single sided page and $0.20 for each double sided page. Certified copies are provided at $1.00 per page.  We recommend that you phone ahead to ensure that the report is on file and available.
      
Can I make a police report at any time of day or do I need to make an appointment?
The Police Department will respond 24 hours a day, seven days a week to requests for police assistance. To make a police report dial (407)703-1757 or 911 in the case of an emergency and a communications operator will assist you. The phone number for non-emergency assistance is (407)703-1771.

I have received a copy of a police incident report where sections have been redacted, why is this?
Under Florida State Statute there is certain information that is protected from release to the public.  Therefore, this information may be edited out in accordance with the public records laws.

When should I call 911?
Citizens should call 911 only for police, fire or medical emergencies.  When calling 911, stay on the line and try to remain calm with your information ready.

When can I retrieve my personal property/bicycle that were logged in to Property/Evidence Section at the Apopka Police Department?
The Apopka Police Departments Property/Evidence Section releases bicycles and property between the hours of 8:00 a..m. until 9:00 a.m. Monday through Friday, or by appointment. You can schedule an appointment by contacting (407) 703-1771 ext. 514.

Property that is not claimed in a timely manner following the final disposition of the case is put up for public auction, donated or thrown away.  We recommend that you check the City of Apopka web page, as we will also post notices of public interest on the web site.

How do I obtain a Protection Order?
Orders for Protection are issued by the Orange County Clerk of Courts.  In order to obtain an Order for Protection you will need to contact the Clerk of Courts at the Orange County Courthouse, located at 425 N. Orange Avenue in Orlando.

Who do I call to report a drunk driver?
You may call 911 or *FHP (*347) from your cellular phone to report a drunk driver.

Who do I contact to get more information about the Neighborhood Watch Program?
Visit your neighbors and tell them you are interested in discouraging crime in your neighborhood. Ask for their support and involvement, then set a date for a Neighborhood Watch meeting.  Contact an Apopka Police Department Crime Prevention Officer at (407) 703-1771 to attend the Neighborhood Watch meeting. The crime prevention officers will help you organize a program within your community.

How do I apply for a Police Officer or other position with the Apopka Police Department?
In order to apply to be a Police Officer with the City of Apopka you must have graduated from a police academy in the State of Florida and must have already passed the state certification exam. Once you have met those qualifications you can pick up an application from the Apopka Police Department or call (407) 703-1789 to speak with a recruiter.  If you reside out of the state. We will be happy to discuss potential job opportunities on a case by case basis.

When is fingerprinting done?
Fingerprinting is done on a first come first served basis, Tuesday through Friday from 7:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. at the Apopka Police Department, 112 E. 6th Street.  The charge is $15.00 for Apopka City residents and $20.00 for non-city residents and is payable by credit/debit or cash. Checks are not accepted. Applicants must also provide their own fingerprint cards and show a picture ID.
 
How can I find out if there is an active warrant for my arrest?
If you are in Apopka, you may come to the Apopka Police Department, at 112 E. 6th Street.  Be sure to bring photo identification with you.  Florida State Statute requires that all warrants issued in Orange County be maintained by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. Therefore, there may be a brief period of time for us to verify the existence of an active warrant.

How do I find out if someone is in jail?
The Orange County Jail is owned and operated by the Board of County Commissioners and  run by the Orange County Corrections Department. After someone is arrested, they are transported to the Orange County Corrections Facility. Once booked in the jail, the Corrections Department is responsible for tracking information about an individual who has been arrested. To find out if someone is in jail and/or the amount of their bond, please call the Corrections Department at (407) 836-3400.

Can the police open my car if I have locked my keys inside?
Unfortunately, because of the potential for damage, the Police Department does not open locked vehicles. We can assist you by contacting a locksmith for you if you wish. If a child is locked inside the vehicle, the Apopka Fire Department will respond to remove the child. Also, should the vehicle be locked and the vehicle is running, the Fire Department will respond to assist you.

What is Florida's Child Restraint Law?
All children 5 years of age or younger must be properly restrained no matter where they are sitting in the vehicle.  Children through age 3 must be secured in a separate carrier or a vehicle manufacturer's integrated child safety seat.  For children aged 4 through 5 years, a separate carrier, an integrated child safety seat, or a safety belt may be used.  (FL Statute 316.613). 

How do I take care of a parking ticket?
If the citation has "Apopka Parking Citation" printed on the top, it may be paid  at 112 E. 6th Street, Apopka, FL 32703.  If the citation has "Uniform Traffic Citation" printed on the top, it may be paid at 1111 N. Rock Spring Rd., Apopka, FL 32712 or on the Web at http://orangeclerk.onetgov.net/traffic/pay-ticket-web.shtml.

What can I do if someone continually parks in front of my residence?
The street in front of your residence is considered public right-of-way and can be used by anyone for parking of his or her vehicle. If the car is parked legally and has been moved within the last 24 hours, there isn't anything that can be done.

Who do I call to report an abandoned vehicle?
You may call the Apopka Police Department at (407)703-1757 to report an abandoned vehicle.  We will work with the City of Apopka Code Enforcement Officials to resolve the situation.  A vehicle is considered abandoned when it has been parked on a city street for an extended period of time without being moved.
