Probationary Period
Probationary period for all employees shall be one (1) year.
Increases
Employees receive annual evaluations. Merit increases of up to 3% are based on job performance.
COLA reviewed annually in budget and set by City Council.
Vacation
Vacation is accrued on a monthly basis at the following rates, based on years of service:

Employees may accumulate leave up to a maximum of three times their current annual accrual hours (including longevity if applicable) as of January 1st of each year. Accrued vacation in excess shall be transferred to sick leave with the approval of the City Council.
The City will pay the employee for all accrued vacation upon termination, resignation or retirement.
Sick Leave
Sick Leave is accrued on a monthly basis at the following rates:
General Employee Twenty-four (24) hr. Employees 1st year ---------- 6 days 1st year ------------------- 2.5 shifts 1 year + --------- 12 days 1 year+ ------------------ 6 shifts
Sick leave may be accrued with no limit from year to year.
Upon retirement with at least ten years service a forty-hour employee who has accumulated more than four-hundred eighty (480) hours of sick leave shall be paid for each hour over four-hundred eighty (480), up to and including seven-hundred fifty (750) hours at his or her current rate of pay. This benefit shall not exceed three-thousand dollars ($3,000.00). In addition, the employee shall be paid at a rate equivalent to 50% of his or her current rate of pay for each hour over seven-hundred fifty (750). The total pay out of sick leave shall in no event exceed six-thousand dollars ($6,000.00).
Upon retirement with at least ten years service a twenty-four-hour employee who has accumulated more than eight-hundred forty (840) hours of sick leave shall be paid for each hour over eight-hundred forty (840), up to and including one-thousand three-hundred (1,300) hours at his or her current rate of pay. This benefit shall not exceed three-thousand dollars ($3,000.00). In addition, the employee shall be paid at a rate equivalent to 50% of his or her current rate of pay for each hour over one-thousand three-hundred (1,300). The total pay out of sick leave shall in no event exceed six-thousand dollars ($6,000.00).
Holidays
Employees receive ten (10) paid holidays per year. New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, Floating Holiday (employee vote with council approval), Personal Holiday.

Defined Benefit Retirement Plans for Police, Fire, and General Employees.
Employee Health and Wellness Center
A health and wellness center is provided for employee's and their dependents who are covered under the City's health insurance policy. The center provides general medical care, prescription medications, lab work, x-ray's, wellness services, etc, at no cost to those eligible participants.
Life Insurance
A $30,000.00 Life Insurance policy with an additional $30,000.00 Accidental Death and Dismemberment policy is provided for each employee, paid 100% by the City. Employees may purchase additional coverage for themselves and their spouses or children at the employee’s expense.
Health Insurance
The City provides employees with health insurance. The employee health premium is paid 100% by the City. Coverage for dependent health is available at the employee’s expense.
Dental Insurance
Dental insurance is available at the employee’s expense.
Vision Insurance
Limited routine eye exams and discounted hardware are included in the health insurance. A separate more comprehensive vision plan is available at the employee’s expense.
Employee Assistance Program
Full assistance program provided at no cost to the employee.
Section 125 Tax Shelter
Qualified insurance premium deductions are sheltered from Federal Income Taxes and FICA Taxes under the IRS Section 125 rule.
Benefit Bank/Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
Employees are provided a Benefit Bank to assist with premiums associated with certain types of insurance purchases. If the Bank is not exhausted by premium payments, the balance of the allowance is transferred to a FSA.
