Trash/Recycle   Print

The Solid Waste Division provides household trash pickup service twice a week for our residents.  Recycling pickup service is provided every other Wednesday.  The City has two claw trucks for yard waste and bulky pickup service, which is available once a week on your scheduled yard waste day. Click ASWRS (automated trash pickup video) for more information on the use and placement of city trash and recycling carts through the automated solid waste and recycling system.

For commercial establishments, the Solid Waste Division provides service seven days a week.  There is a special bulky pickup available for commercial establishments.

'RECYCLE IT APOPKA' For more information, please call: 407-703-1731.

Recycling Do’s and Dont's

Recycling is easy...all recyclables go into the same GRAY cart.

NO MORE SORTING REQUIRED!

DO

Do Recyle Items such as:

Cardboard, cereal boxes, empty paper towel and toilet paper rolls, shoe boxes, all drink boxes and milk/juice cartons. Newspapers, brown paper bags, flattened corrugated cardboard, magazines, and catalogs.  Plastic bottles, aluminum and tin   cans, glass bottles and jars (put lids in separately).  Empty aerosol cans.

DONT's

Don't Overfill the cart
Don't place household garbage in with recyclables
Don't place yard waste in the cart
* Don't place hazardous material such as automobile fluids, garden chemicals, paint products or cleaners, and electronics such as old TV's and computers in the recyclables cart.

*Click  Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility to find a location nearest you, or call the Orange County Solid Waste Hotline at 407-836-6601.

Need More Recycling?

Here are some options for additional recycling needs.

Option  1: Purchase another cart.  Additional fees apply.

Option 2: Upgrade to a larger cart.  95 gal carts are available at no cost.  (Cart numbers are found on the side of the cart indicate sizes.  Numbers beginning with R3=35 gal, R6=64 gal, R9=95 gal.)

Option 3: Use the “R”.  Large R stickers are free of charge.  Apply the sticker to the lid of your current city-issued Trash cart.  On your regularly scheduled recycling collection day, you may use this trash cart with the "R" sticker on top.  The collector   will recognize the "R" and it will be picked up as recycling and not trash (please make sure there are only recycling materials in the cart at that time).
