The City of Apopka's Water Treatment division consists of three water plants, on Grossenbacher Drive, Sheeler Oaks Drive and the Myrtle Rogers Womble water plant located at the northwest Recreation facilities.

The Grossenbacher Water Plant is a 1997 Honorable Mention award winner from the FDEP for operations excellence. It is served by three (3) wells with a total pumping capacity of 11.520 MGD. The distribution system is served with five (5) high service variable freqency drives (VFD) with a total pumping capacity of 23.616 MGD. The variable freqency drive allows the motor to adjust the speed of the pump automatically and maintain a near constant pressure throughout the distribution system. This insures quality service to the consumer and increases consumer satisfaction. The raw water from the wells is treated via aeration, disinfection and retention then stored in two (2) ground storage tanks having a total capacity of 1.5 MG.
The Sheeler Oaks Water Plant is served by two (2) wells with a pumping capacity of 7.200 MGD. The distribution system is served with four (4) high service pumps, one (1) with a variable frequency with pumping capacity of 2.16 MG and three (3) pumps with a capacity of 5.44 MGD for a total pumping capacity of 7.6 MGD. Like the Grossenbacher plant, the raw water at Sheeler Oaks is also treated via aeration, disenfection and retention then stored in a 1.000 MG ground storage tank.

The Myrtle Rogers Womble Water Plant is the City's newest water plant. It is served by two (2) wells with a pumping capacity of 8.64 MGD. The distribution system is served with two (2) high service pumps with a rated capacity of 7.2 MGD. The service pumps are equipped with variable frequency pumps, thus insuring optimum operating efficiency to the community. The raw water from the well is treated via aeration, disinfection and retention then stored ina 1.0 MG ground storage tank.
