2020 High School Graduates

The City of Apopka will be hosting two graduation parades at the Northwest Recreation Complex, 3710 Jason Dwelley Parkway, Apopka. 

The City of Apopka will host these two parades to honor our graduating seniors from Apopka High School and Wekiva High School in light of traditional ceremonies being postponed due to the pandemic.

The seniors will drive through the Northwest Recreation Complex while parents and family members are parked along the route. Cars, motorcycles, and trucks are acceptable vehicles for use in the parade. Trailers pulled behind vehicles are prohibited, in an effort to maintain social distancing. 

This event will take place rain or shine.

Parade Information

Wekiva High School: May 23, 2020 from 10 AM to 1 PM

Parents are to be parked in available parking spaces at the complex by 9:30 AM.
Students are to be lined up by 9:30 at Apply Lane, Apopka, FL 32712.
Parents are to be parked in available parking spaces at the complex by 9:30 AM (limit 3 cars per family).

Apopka High School: May 30, 2020 from 2 PM to 5 PM

Parents are to be parked in available parking spaces at the complex by 1:30 PM.
Students are to be lined up by 1:30 PM at Apply Lane, Apopka, FL 32712.
Parents are to be parked in available parking spaces at the complex by 9:30 AM (limit 3 cars per family).

How to Listen

AM 950 and FM 94.9 THE ANSWER, part of Salem Communications, will broadcast the event and announce the names of all the graduating seniors. At the beginning of the program, there will be voluntary commentary from students. 

Parent Information

The seniors will drive through the Northwest Recreation Complex while parents and family members are parked along the route. Parents can park in any spot at the complex (limit three cars per family).

In order to comply with social distancing requirements, we ask that everyone remain in their vehicles and to remain parked for the entirety of the parade. No tents or tailgating will be permitted at this event in order to ensure social distancing.

Pictures of the students in their vehicles will be taken by Ralo Flores (Wekiva High School) and Ken Frazier (Apopka High School) and made available for parents to download at a later date.

Please Note: This event is a City of Apopka sponsored event and not Orange County Public School. Diplomas will not be handed out at this time.

Student Information

Each senior will have signs on both sides their vehicles with their names for easy identification by the audience. In addition to listing names, the signs should include any accomplishments as well.

Wekiva High School Event Volunteers are needed to help decorate the parade route the morning of the event (May 23, 2020).  If interested in helping out, please meet fellow parent volunteers at 8:00 AM at Appy Lane.

Apopka High School Event Volunteers are needed to help decorate the parade route the morning of the event (May 30, 2020).  If interested in helping out, please meet fellow parent volunteers at 10:00 AM at Appy Lane.
